Abstract |
Although spontaneous regression of herniated intervertebral discs(HIVDs) has been reported in many cases, the most useful and effective treatment options for symptomatic HIVD are still controversial. Percutaneous epidural adhesiolysis is a minimally invasive catheterization procedure involving the dissolution of epidural scar tissue to treat radiculopathy that is refractory to conventional transforaminal epidural steroid injections. Here, we present two cases of the disappea- rance of recurrent and primary HIVD following Percutaneous epidural adhesiolysis. The exact mechanism leading to the regression remains unclear. However, as shown in our cases, lumbar HIVD may spontaneously regress, implying that conservative treatment should be given additional importance in the treatment of HIVD. |
