Abstract |
Deep brain stimulation (DBS) is a safe and effective treatment for movement disorders, pain, and psychiatric conditions. Although some risks are associated with the procedure, Deep brain stimulation lead fracture rarely occurs in patients with dystonia or parkinsonian-dystonia. A 66-year-old female with Parkinson’s disease developed a fracture in the lead extension line four years after deep brain stimulation. The internal pulse generator battery was not functioning. We implanted a new internal pulse generator and extension line. If a patient’s symptoms are aggravated after deep brain stimulation surgery, it may be important to conduct radiographic studies of the skull and chest. |
