Abstract
Primary prevention of cerebrovascular disease remains the ultimate goal, although it is quite difficult. It is also important to determine whether neurological dysfunction is referable to stroke, and neurological deficit should conform to a discrete vascular territory. Evaluation should be utilized to determine secondary prevention strategies. The patient's premorbid functional status, cognitive capabilities, and support system are strong predictors for success in rehabilitation interventions.
